MUSCLE TESTING is
a valuable biofeedback technique thatcan be used to monitor your state of balance before
and after doing the Energy Balancing Exercises. Use of muscle tests is not
necessary for the Energy Balancing Exercises to be effective. However muscle
testing can provide guidance on whether a particular function is out of balance
energy-wise. After doing an Energy Balancing Exercise, muscle testing can tell you
whether the Energy Balancing Exercise has been effective in correcting that
particular identified energy imbalance. In the Touch for Health synthesis
muscle testing was originally used to learn something about the muscle being tested
or about the meridian asociated with that muscle. However, it was soon discovered that
muscle testing could also be used to indicate the state of balance of some particular
aspect of the overall body-brain energy field. In this case the muscle is called an indicator
muscle.
Most of the muscle tests described in our books
and classes are based on using an indicator muscle. For
a muscle to be used as an indicator, however, it must itself be in balance so that the
test results are not confused by imbalances in that muscle. In principle, any balanced
muscle can be used as an indicator muscle.
The muscle most frequently used for indicator muscle testing is the deltoid
muscle in the shoulder as shown in the figure. This is quite convenient when two people
are involved.
For self testing, the quadriceps muscle in the leg can be used. This is
very helpful when there is no one else available to help you to muscle test. This
alternative is described in our books and classes.
The muscle testing procedures described in our books
and classes derive from the information in the Touch For Health Book by Dr. John Thie. Touch For Health classes can add valuable additional
insight and give you additional capability in in muscle testing and energy balancing.
